Building The Future
A Careers Fair with a Difference
Stride has developed a careers fair with a difference, staged to help some of Manchester’s most disadvantaged 14-to-16-year-olds get their life in the world of work off to a good start. Throughout the two days, students enjoy a huge variety of different career experiences, from surveying and construction, to healthcare and hair & make-up for film, TV and theatre.

Raising Career Aspirations
The event aims to give young people a hands-on, practical introduction to a variety of sectors and has previously included health, construction, the media, law, the military, accountancy, property, the emergency services, the digital industry and hospitality. The event is taken over by schools and employers from across the North West, all keen to inspire our 14-16 year old students and raise their career aspirations.
“I’m currently working to raise awareness of what the care industry is, what we do, and most importantly how to make it a more attractive sector to work in, so I found it really useful to attend ‘Building the Future’ and to be part of something bigger.
Valorum Care Group is a leading care provider that delivers bespoke care and support services nationwide. Jon continues: I think the Healthcare industry in general could do much more to raise awareness so to have the opportunity to speak to young people who are considering a career in care was great.”
